  I always come here for their Ma Po Tofu. I've been here many times now and it's still one of my favorite spots. The food comes out pretty quickly after ordering in my experience. Try this place out!

  I love that this place gives me a little taste of Chinatown without having to drive to Chinatown. This used to be a convenience store for many, many years before the same owner decided to change it into a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant. I love being able to support local establishments so I make the effort to come here every time I'm in the area.
  
  Some of my favorite dishes include the House Special Lo Mein, Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, and the BBQ Pork with Egg Roll Vermicelli. They're closed on Sundays and offer delivery service as well. Give it a try why don't ya? :)

  We came on a Saturday afternoon about 2PM, and there was no one else in the restaurant. The parking lot looked a bit sketchy, and there were no other cars parked. Nonetheless, we were hungry, and I wanted Asian food, and the door opened. I just figured we were past the lunch hour. So, we decided to eat here!
  
  I ordered the beef pho and egg rolls. My friend ordered the lunch special of General Tso's chicken. My first impression about the lunch special - chicken is made for non-Asians (pieces were too big, not chopstick-friendly), fried rice is really only brown rice (should come w/veggies like corn, carrrots, etc but there were none), and the egg roll that came with my friend's lunch special was a Chinese version vs the Vietnamese egg rolls I ordered. This last part is a positive note, as there is a different between the two. Chinese egg rolls tend to be fat, and Vietnamese egg rolls tend to be skinny. They are both good in their own ways, just a matter of preference.
  
  On to the pho, hence the reason for two stars. It was extremely bland like the Vietnamese egg rolls. There really wasn't any flavor unlike pho shops in Chinatown or near my house. Therefore "I've experienced better" is my rating. The filling inside the egg rolls was quite white, so I am not sure what I ate, but it was tasteless. The pieces of meat in the pho were quite thick, thicker than any other pho shop I've been to all over the USA. You may think that's good because you get more meat, but in reality, the meat is very tough and chewy.
  
  I don't visit the Conroe area very much, so I probably won't come again. About 3 more tables of people arrived about 15 minutes after we arrived, and 2-3 people picked up food to-go. I think I'd rather try another place in the vicinity. Service was okay, although the staff like to watch tv on their phones without earbuds, so you have music overhead plus whoever's blasting whatever on their phone speakers (drives me bonkers).   Found this place on a google search for vermicelli and was a little nervous when we pulled, but it didn't disappoint. We ordered crab puffs and fried meat dumplings for the table. I ordered the bbq beef vermicelli and friends at my table ordered the sliced beef pho and the shrimp fried rice. We were impressed and would definitely come back.

  For Conroe, Van Thong was always much better than Asian BBQ & Grill, which gets really high reviews.  We have typically loved this place, but yesterday's experience left us totally underwhelmed. And that's being kind.
  
  Of all the items ordered, the steamed rice and fried rice were the only things that were edible--and that's a stretch.  The pork dish, was super-greasy and flavorless. The Vietnamese egg rolls, seemed "off", as in the filling tasted and smelled like rotten meat. I threw the lettuce and cilantro out, just feeling like I couldn't trust them to have been properly washed. We also got a lemongrass pork dish...it was just meh, as well.  Almost like the cook really didn't want to be there?  We will not order from there again.
